If you want to be sure, there are labs that will test building materials for asbestos. Just search your yellow pages or the internet for one. We recently made an offer on a house and had some "popcorn" tested to see if it contained asbestos. We looked in the yellow pages under Environmental.....and found an asbestos testing lab. We sent about 1/2 cup of the "popcorn" to the lab, they tested it and called with the result. Then they sent us a document for our records. Was all done in 2 days. Cost $30.00 (in Washington State)
